The directorate of medicine and A&E is based over both the acute hospital sites at Royal Glamorgan, Llantrisant and Prince Charles, Merthyr Tydfil. We offer all sub-speciality services on both sites with outpatient clinics run in our community hospitals as well.
We have embarked upon an exciting journey to develop new and existing speciality services. We also collaborate closely with our community partners to deliver high quality integrated, patient centric care. As an ambitious organisation, and directorate we are continuously looking for ways to enhance and improve the services we offer to our local population.
There are currently over 60 consultants in the directorate as well as trainees at all levels supported by allied health professionals working alongside in a variety of novel roles.
We offer a wide variety of career opportunities that would allow you to gain experience and develop a subspecialty interest. There are also opportunities to specialise in Medical Education, Research and Development and clinical leadership.
The department is at the forefront of developing new models of care with the new front door model in the Royal Glamorgan receiving national awards for its innovative approach.
We are a brilliant place to work and have an excellent reputation for training. Our staff responses to the national staff survey show that on a number of key findings we are among the best trusts in the NHS.
