We have a vibrant, forward thinking occupational therapy service with a highly motivated workforce. We provide integrated Primary, Community and Secondary Care across Merthyr, Cynon, Rhondda and Taff Ely Valleys.

We offer a range of occupational therapy services across in and outpatient services including older persons mental health, paediatric services, integrated health and social care teams in the community, acute and rehabilitative teams and adult mental health.

A wide range of approaches are used ranging from self management through evidence based practice such as Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CMIT) AMPS and MOHO. The service is always keen to develop further and most recently we have implemented a joint health and social care Stay Well @ Home team based in A&E, a primary care role, a specialist post addressing Autistic Spectrum Disorder, and a Neuro Muscular pilot. To achieve this we think it is vital to invest in our staff by supporting for MSc, developing leadership skills via the Institute of Leadership and Management qualifications, or Academi Wales training, journal clubs, preceptorship and development groups at all grades from support staff to band 7.

We are committed to progressing the wider profession through an active research culture and have recently appointed a dedicated research OT. Currently the service has a range of research projects being undertaken both locally and as part of wider multi centre trials. These include early intervention for memory problems, Sensory Integration for children, Fractured neck of Femur management, along with various MSc projects.

We are known for having a warm and supportive culture and have excellent feedback from our staff and students. Cwm Taf will provide you with the foundations for an exciting and structured career in the profession.
