We like to think that working for Cwm Taf University Health Board is something pretty unique.

We’re compact yet diverse.

We’re traditional in some ways, yet extremely innovative in others.

We’re ambitious yet supportive.

We’re professional yet very friendly.

Cwm Taf is at the forefront of innovation in healthcare and has much to offer staff looking to develop their career. Our attractions include:

Cwm Taf Cares

Cwm Taf’s central philosophy is ‘Cwm Taf Cares’, which sets patients and the delivery of quality services at the heart of all we do. This commitment encourages all of our staff to be aware of their own potential and to take opportunities to be personally responsible to show we are all passionate about the care given to our patients.

University Status

In July 2013, Cwm Taf was awarded University status by the Minister for Health and Social Services. This was an important achievement in our development journey and is a source of pride for the Cwm Taf community. We are confident that this is helping us in our ongoing drive to provide high quality, responsive care and services for our community. We intend to use our University status to work with our academic partners (in particular the University of South Wales and Cardiff University) in developing innovative service solutions, to further our research and development functions and to recruitment and retain staff who feel valued and fulfilled in their roles.

Research and Development

Cwm Taf already has an extensive research and development portfolio, undertaking and supporting high quality collaborative commercial and non-commercial research studies. Our University status is bringing a distinct advantage to Cwm Taf in achieving our strategic aim of increasing the commercial research undertaken across the organisation.

Innovation and Major Service Redesign

Cwm Taf has a strong reputation for delivery. We can therefore afford to be bold in our ambitions for 2017/18 and beyond.

We are working with our partner Health Boards and Trusts across South Wales on major and innovative service redesign in fragile service areas such as paediatrics, obstetrics, neonates and emergency medicine, in order to ensure they remain high quality and sustainable services for the future.

Our Royal Glamorgan Hospital will be a beacon site for innovation across the UK. Here we have exciting developments such as the Diagnostic Hub, Acute Medicine model and Paediatric Assessment Unit. We are also developing plans and new models for critical care and surgery recently opening a new Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) at Prince Charles Hospital, with an aim for a similar Unit in Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
